The Australian Golf Open will be staged in Sydney through to 2015 in a deal announced by Golf Australia and the New South Wales state government on Monday.
It was also announced that the 2009 Australian Open will be held for the first time at the New South Wales Golf Club on Sydney’s southern coastline.
Designed by the legendary English golf architect Alister Mackenzie, the NSW club course is rated as the state’s best and has been consistently ranked in the world’s top 50 courses.
This year’s Australian Open will be staged at Royal Sydney from December 11 to 14.
World number four Adam Scott along with world number six and 2006 US Open champion Geoff Ogilvy will join defending champion Craig Parry at this year’s 93rd Australian Open.
